Yashica MF-2 Super with fresh film

I had a small portion of film left in a canister and decided to use it in the Yashica MF-2 Super.

It was a Fujifilm rated at 100 ASA. The pictures came out fine.
There is only one shutter speed around 1/100 - 1/125th sec and two apertures, a normal f8 and an f3.8 when the flash is on.
For the closer shots I used the flash option to have the f3.8 aperture. But even though I had fresh batteries the flash did not fire. The images with the f3.8 aperture are a bit soft but ok.
For the distant pictures the f8 aperture produces sharper images.
